A general degree in psychology will allow you to study the human mind and human behavior. However, a specific focus allows psychologists to specialize in a number of different areas within the psychology field. Psychologists apply their knowledge to a wide range of areas such as health and human services, management, education, law and sports.

The primary feature of addiction is dependence as an individual shows increased psychological and physiological dependence on the substance he is addicted to and without the addictive substance the person is unable to return to normal life.
